Lidwell › Moving box labels
Printable moving box labels, with a QR code that shows what’s inside
Type what goes in each box, pick the room, and print. Every label gets a big number, the room’s color and code, handling marks like Fragile or Open first, and a QR code. Scan it with any phone camera to see the full contents, no app needed.
What goes on a good moving label
- A box number. It’s the one thing everyone can agree on: “box 14” is one box, even when three say “Kitchen.”
- The destination room, in color. Whoever carries the box can match the color to a sign on the door without asking you. Lidwell also prints a short room code (like KI or MB), so the label still works in black and white.
- Handling marks. Fragile, Heavy, This side up, and Open first.
- A short contents list, or none at all. If strangers will handle your boxes, untick “Print the contents on the outside” and keep the list in the QR code and your inventory.
Paper and sizes
The free labels print two per page on plain US Letter or A4 paper. Cut along the dashed line and tape them on. Lidwell Pro ($9 once) adds exact layouts for Avery 5164/8164 (4″×3⅓″, 6 per sheet), Avery 5163/8163 (4″×2″, 10 per sheet) and 4″×6″ shipping labels, plus a second label per box for the side.
Tips that save time on moving day
- Put a label on the top and one side, so the number shows when boxes are stacked.
- Print the room door signs (free) and tape them up at the new place before the truck arrives.
- Mark three or four boxes “Open first”: sheets, chargers, toilet paper, coffee, basic tools.
